Competitive Team

Train with Purpose. Compete with Heart. Excel with Chaco.!

Ages: 7 Years+ | Requirement: Assessment Required | Duration: 1.5–2 Hour Training Sessions

The Chaco Competitive Team is designed for swimmers who are ready to move beyond traditional lessons and embrace purposeful, performance-driven training. This is where passion meets discipline.

Entry into the team is based on a rigorous skills assessment to ensure every athlete has the technical foundation required for structured team training. We look for swimmers who possess strong fundamentals and are already proficient in at least two competitive strokes. In this environment, athletes develop not only as swimmers but as individuals, learning the values of commitment, goal-setting, and teamwork.

Training Commitment

At Chaco Swim Club, we believe consistency is the key to athletic growth:

  • Standard Training: Minimum of 2 practices per week.

  • Competition Path: For swimmers actively competing, a minimum of 3 practices per week is required.

  • Dryland Training: 30–60 minutes of weekly strength and conditioning (off-pool).

Training Focus
  • Stroke Technique Refinement: Fine-tuning the mechanics of all four competitive strokes for maximum efficiency.

  • Speed & Power Development: Specific sets designed to build explosive starts, turns, and sprinting ability.

  • Endurance & Conditioning: Building the “engine” needed to maintain peak performance throughout a meet.

  • Race Skills & Performance Habits: Mastering the mental and physical details of racing, from pacing to finish-wall aggression.

  • Discipline & Consistency: Cultivating the mindset of a high-level athlete through regular, high-quality practice.

Finding the Right Level (Which Program to Choose?)
  • Competitive Team (Ages 7+): For swimmers ready for high-intensity training. Assessment is mandatory.

  • Elite Swimmer (Levels 9–10): The perfect intro-competitive environment for those still perfecting their strokes.

  • Stroke Workshop: Highly recommended for team members looking to gain a competitive edge.

 FAQs

Q: My child hasn’t taken lessons at Chaco Swim Club before and didn’t complete your Level 10. Can they still join the Team?

A: Absolutely! We welcome talented swimmers from all backgrounds. Even if your child has not moved through our internal levels, they can join the team by successfully completing a one-on-one skills assessment with our head coach to ensure they have the necessary technical foundation.

Q: Does my child have to compete in meets to be on the team?

A: No. While we encourage all team members to experience the thrill of competition, our primary focus is on personal growth and technical development. However, those on the “Competition Path” must meet the higher attendance requirements.

Q: What happens during the Assessment?

A: A Chaco Head Coach will observe the swimmer’s proficiency in multiple strokes, their ability to follow pace clock intervals, and their readiness for a structured training environment.

Q: What is “Dryland Training”?

A: This consists of exercises performed outside the pool (on land) to improve flexibility, core strength, and coordination, which directly translates to better performance in the water.
